Lovely property with cozy great room. Updated rooms and bathrooms. Very comfortable bed but comforter too warm for summer weather. Very hospitable owners and staff. Setting is amazing with views across Loch Fyne to Inveraray and castle.

Really enjoyed our short stay here.Avrill and Sue were perfect welcoming hosts, our room was spotlessly clean, spacious, and with a large comfortable bed. We had a nice view overlooking the water across to Inveraray.Finished off our stay with lovely breakfast.Couldn’t ask for anything more - highly recommended!

Exceeded expectation. Fabulous location on the Loch, beautifully furnished comfortable room and great choice for breakfast which was delicious. Welcome ing hosts, Lloyd round excellent value and thoroughly recommended...especially the breakfast marmalade with a 'little nip'!

Once again the proprietors have gone that extra mile to make our stay with them perfect in every way. This is the 5th stay with them in as many years and we look forward to our next stay which is already booked for July 2025.

We came to the area from the US for a wedding, and stayed a couple days at the Thistle House. Everything about it was great. It was a beautiful building, the room was large and well appointed, Sue and her sister were nice hosts, and the breakfasts were amazing.

We were running behind schedule, called The Thistle House Guest House and she gave us suggestions of where to stop and get something for dinner. They were so sweet and welcoming. The breakfast was amazing. Large room, piping hot shower and the beds are so comfortable. If you are traveling to or through Invernay I suggest you staying with Thistle House Guest House.

The rooms with a view overlooking Loch Fyne are comfortable and nicely furnished. The staff is friendly and the breakfasts are great.

The best guest house we have stayed in, with good breakfast, room and attention to detail.

We were staying for three nights for a summer break. We usually stay in hotels but this guesthouse was actually better than a hotel and the owners were lovely and so helpful. We had a lovely big room with fantastic views over the loch. There was a huge lounge to hang around in and lovely grounds with tables and chairs set up outside overlooking the loch. Breakfasts were excellent.

Wonderful guest house. Each room is beautifully decorated and has a really special feel. The lounge area is grand yet comfortable, with stunning views.We are always made to feel very welcome and well looked after. Lovely part of Scotland to explore. We’ve stayed severaland the high standards and quality of service remains the same each time. Highly recommend.

What a welcome we had! We arrived late and none of the restaurants were open! The owner kindly prepared a small meal for us! Everything was perfect! Our visit was short (1 night) but so much fun! Beautiful room with a comfortable bed and a clean, good-sized bathroom. A delicious and copious breakfast! We even had the pleasure of getting to know their dogs. A real favorite!

What a lovely gem of a place. Hosts Avril and Sue are such genuine, friendly and consummate professionals when hosting. We were greeted warmly and given a personal tour of the home and rooms. Offered tea and cakes on arrival, a lovely touch.The house is 3 stories tall and a traditional building. 5 rooms are rented, the lower floor has a large double length lounge which is available to use by any guest. Games and books can be found in here. The other room downstairs is for breakfast. 4 rooms have front facing windows and the views are stunning. We staying in McPherson on the top floor and found it perfect.The room had all you could need, tea/coffee station, soaps and amenities, lovely ensuite, small chairs and table with a view to the front loch and very comfortable bedding. Milk and chilled water are available in a small fridge in the hall downstairs.Breakfast is pre ordered and time slots given, so you can choose when to enjoy your meal. We loved the locally sourced produce and preserves. Coffee on tap and warm hospitality throughout.For the price paid, the views available, and the charm of the place it's just gorgeous, don't question it, just book this place... Now.

We couldn't rate our experience more highly. Avril and her sister in law, Sue made us feel very welcome and trusted, including bringing us refreshments in the guest sitting room when we arrived; which we weren't expecting. The house and our room was finished and presented to a very high standard and was immaculately clean. The breakfast was of a high quality and perfectly cooked. It's a stunning location, we never tired of sitting with a book or making desultory conversation in the evenings looking out across Lough Fyne. Above all, the setting is an extremely peaceful one. 10 out of 10 to Avril and Sue.

We travel all over the world and are used to staying in top quality although usually corporate styled hotels, as I was due to participate in a BDMLR course at the nearby Lochgoilhead,we decided to stay at the Thistle House Guest House, and what a find, from the minute we arrived we received an exceptional welcome, we were shown to a beautiful room with stunning views,we were then invited to the lounge for coffee ,cake and shortbread, the hosts could not do enough for us preparing early breakfasts ( delicious omletes)and we had requested packed lunches which by any standards were incredible, sandwiches, sausage rolls, cake , biscuits , crisps, and fruit ,water, all for an exceptionally reasonable price, the guest house was immaculatethroughout spotlessly clean ,we felt like we were the first guest to have entered this sumptuous property, it was so well looked after,the property was fully occupied yet we felt as if we were the only guests and so enjoyed the grandeur of Thistle House , additionally the hosts were kind enough to give us details of nearby restaurants which allowed us to book in advance. finally we had an exceptionally comfortable sleep, the rooms are all en-suite with well equipped bathrooms with shower, ample parking and well signposted in both directions, definitely visit again !!!

We had a really fantastic accommodation for one night. On arrival, we were invited to tea in the lounge and asked if we would like a lift to a restaurant in the evening. After a hot shower, tea and a good night's sleep, we had a wonderful breakfast the next morning as ordered. Avril then kindly drove us to the start of our next stage on the Cowal Way, as she had offered again. Thanks!

We have just spent 6 nights at this wonderful b and b and it was perfect. Sue and Avril were so kind making sure we were ok. Everywhere was spotless , our shower room hadlovely Scottish toiletries , the bed was comfortable and there were ample tea and coffee making facilities. Our room looked over the garden and the Loch.The beautiful lounge was so peaceful to sit in to read or play a game.The breakfasts were delicious with so much choice you could have something different each day if you wished. This area of Scotland is beautiful, it’s quiet. It is halfway between Dunoon and Inverary and there is plenty to do for a few days if you research the area. Sue and Avril are full of ideas of things to do too. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Thistle House, it’s perfect!

Having stayed last year with my partner I was delighted to return to let my parents experience staying here and enjoy both the great location and the wonderful hospitality of Sue and Avril.We all had a fabulous stay despite the mixed weather and it was so lovely to make use of the lovely lounge to escape the weather and relax in comfort. The rooms were both lovely with wonderful views over Loch Fyne across to Inverary. The wonderful choices at breakfast met each of our different preferences - including thoseof my mum who is gluten intolerant. The viewfrom the room we had is simply stunning.There are several very nice touches such asfresh milk available in small bottles in the little fridge at reception, also bolted of fresh tap water in the fridge. The communal lounge is absolutely beautiful with tea/coffee and home made goodies offered on arrival.I would have no hesitation in recommending Thistle House Guesthouse to anyone looking for a comfortable relaxing and very welcoming stay.

It's across the loch from Inveraray, but worth the drive. Beautiful vistas from the house, which was attractively appointed and comfortable. Our room was large and the bathroom while not huge was equipped with modern amenities. Everything about our stay was grand. If there were more attractions in the area we would have stayed longer than one night. Breakfast was excellent too by the way. We would not hesitate to stay here again if we returned to the area.

We had the most amazing greeting on arrival, being it was late September a beautiful fire was awaiting us in the client lounge, along with homemade cake and choice of tea or coffee. We found ourselves unexpectedly in Strachur due to flood damage.The B&B were closed but as part of a heroic community spirit opened their doors to support stranded visitors.We feel so lucky to have got a room here; beautiful lounge with a wonderful supply of tea, roaring fire and warm and friendly hosts.The room was lovely, clean, cosy and with lovely loch views.Would highly recommend - yummy and hearty breakfast too!

From the time we walked in we were warmly greeted and made to feel at home. Our hostess took us to our room and made sure we were familiar with all the necessities. Our room was comfortable and had a beautiful view of the loch. Before we left for a drive to dinner, we were offered tea and cake in front of a warm coal fire. After we returned the fire was still stoked and we were able to relax and read before turning in. The morning’s breakfast selection was plentiful and delicious. I must admit I chose several items on the menu and each was well prepared. We would highly recommend this B&B.

Das Thistle Guest House ist ein 4-Sterne Gästehaus, direkt am Loch Fyne, das seine 4 Sterne nicht verdient! Es müssten 5 sein!Zunächst zum äußeren Eindruck. Es handelt sich um ein älteres Gästehaus, dass liebevoll in Schuss gehalten wurde und technisch auf einem sehr zeitgemäßen Stand (2023) gebracht wurde. Unten ist der Frühstücksraum und der Aufenthaltsraum, die bis ins kleinste Detail durchdacht wurden, sehr gemütlich und einladend sind.Die Zimmer lassen keinen Wunsch offen, jedes wurde unterschiedlich (farblich) eingerichtet und runden das bereits im Erdgeschoss gemachte Bild ab - sehr gemütlich und einladend und fast vergessen sehr sauber! Das Badezimmer war das Beste, dass wir bisher in Großbritannien erlebt habe, gemütlich, technisch top und ebenfalls sehr sauber.Nun zu den beiden Damen, die dieses Haus außerordentlich führen. Beide sind zuvorkommend, höflich, freundlich und hilfsbereit. Direkt bei Ankunft haben wir einen Tee mit Gebäck erhalten und durften erstmal ankommen. Das Frühstück am Morgen war außergewöhnlich und der perfekte Start in den Tag. Unbedingt empfehlenswert ist der Lokal hergestellte Orange Jam.Wir, Familie mit zwei erwachsenen Kindern, empfehlen das Thistle Guest House uneingeschränkt weiter und werden hierhin in 1-2 Jahren wiederkommen!

One could not want for more.Breakfast was delicious and generous.Avril and Sue are perfect hosts and we have no hesitation in recommending the Thistle Guest House which we will book again on our next trip to the West Coast.The Thistle sells on behalf of a talented family member a delightful range of ceramic candles and small pottery items. We can also highly recommend Benmore Botanic Gardens, and do make a trip to St. Munn’s Church at Kilmun should you have time.

Wir waren leider nur 2 Tage zu Besuch. Hätten wir gewusst, wie toll es ist, wir wären länger geblieben und hätten von dort mehr unternommen.Das Haus ist wunderschön gelegen mit Blick in den tollen Garten oder auf den See.Es gibt Sitzmöbel im Garten und im Erdgeschoss einen wunderschön eingerichteten Raum für alle Bewohner.Wir hatten ein Zimmer zur Seeseite und es ist wirklich äußerst gemütlich eingerichtet und der Ausblick ist der Wahnsinn. Alles war sehr sauber.Die Erreichbarkeit über die Hauptstraße ist ebenfalls sehr gut.Das Castle und das Dorf von Inveraray sind zu sehen, man fährt aber fast eine halbe Stunde hin, da es genau gegenüber vom Wasser liegt ;-)Sue und Avril waren unglaublich freundlich und tolle Gastgeber. Nicht oft haben wir so freundliche Menschen kennengelernt, die offensichtlich das lieben was sie tun.

Thistle House Guest House: Highly recommend - either as a stopover en route to Oban and/or Dunoon, or for longer stay as it's in a great location for exploring the area.We were contacted a few days in advance to ensure all our requirements were catered for, and to provide us with pubs/restaurants in the area for evening meal as the guest house doesn't cater in evenings. On arrival, we were provided with tea and biscuit/cake. Beautiful views, games provided in the lounge, Fantastic breakfast.We even had a rainbow across the loch at Inverary when we departed.Would definitely recommend.

Amazing 2 night stay at The Thistle Guest House. Views across to Inveraray over Loch Fyne are truly stunning and we were even treated to a whole rainbow to frame the other side from our bedroom window. Great choice for breakfast, prepared and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend taking your own wine to enjoy in front of the open fire of an evening.

I was welcomed at the door and given tea and cake which was lovely, the level of hospitality was second to none. The standard of the house was outstanding, well kept and very inviting. I spent six days at Thistle House Guesthouse and loved every minute of it. Sue and Avril are amazing hosts. The rooms are beautiful and have everything you could possibly need. The cozy lounge room with a fire is lovely in the evenings. I loved being free to do my own thing, but knowing that I could call Sue if I had any issues. I chose to hike and use public transport which at times made life interesting, but Sue and Avril had plenty of tips to help me. I miss having breakfast with views of the loch. I hope to come back again!

This is a lovely Guest House on the bank of Loch Fyne. Very accommodating and helpful. No restaurants or shops within walking distance but a lovely restaurant and shops at nearby Creggans/Strathur, a few miles away by car.

Sue and her sister-in-law were wonderful hosts. The house is beautifully situated on the lake with stunning authentic décor. We were greeted with a cup of tea and cake in the lounge by the open fire on arrival and provided a delicious home cooked breakfast the next morning. Our room was cosy and with plenty of space for two large suitcases, a desk and sofa for relaxing. We had a short drive down to the local pub for a nice dinner. All in all a fantastic stay, we would have loved to stay longer.

We stayed at The Thistle as part of my 50th Birthday trip to Scotland. My wife and I were both so impressed. The staff were absolutely lovely, the guest house was spotlessly clean and quaintly decorated. Breakfast was delicious and we had a wide choice. Large extremely comfy bed. Would highly recommend just for those reasons but must say that the highlight was definitely the location! Breathtaking views of Loch Fyne! Peaceful and majestic. We’ll absolutely be back! X

Well what can we say!!They say first impressions count and from the moment we got there we noticed how clean and friendly it was.We were greeted on arrival by Avril, who was lovely, she took us to our room and explained a few things then she offered us tea in the lovely spacious lounge (we had to decline as we were going straight out for tea).The next day at breakfast we met Sue, who was also lovely and the breakfast was gorgeous, every need and taste was catered for.The rooms in the guest house are very traditional (in keeping with the house) but very pretty, spacious and well coordinated, with everything you would need for your stay.The guest house is set in beautiful surroundings, very tranquil with a great view of the loch and well situated for visiting places.There is a place to eat about 3-4 miles along the road (which Sue and Avril recommended) or around the loch to Inveraray where there are several choices.Thank you Sue and Avril for yourwonderful hospitality, we had a great weekend and we will definitely be back!!Elaine and Trevor

Wonderful stay at the Thistle House B and B. The new owners have been in place for about two years and run a marvelous bed-and-breakfast about 20 minutes outside of Inverary. We had a lovely stay at the Thistle House as part of our honeymoon. We stayed for two nights in the MacPherson room, which was snug but very comfortable with an ensuite bathroom, sitting area, and beautiful view of the Loch. Avril and Sue were excellent hosts, very flexible and offering good advice of things to see in the area. The breakfast each day was cooked to order and was a generous portion. The house itself was very quiet and had a beautiful garden with a stunning view and outdoor seating area for admiring it. It was a very nice visit and I would definitely return!

It was so beautiful in this house, you hardly wanted to leave it. The owners are sweet as can be, the breakfasts are just lovely (fresh waffles, croissants, fantastic fruit salad), our room overlooking the water and Inverary Castle could not have been nicer. This beautiful house has fabulous views across Loch Fyne to Inveraray and the hills beyond. The individual rooms are lovely and sensibly laid out with chairs and tables to make the most of the views. The Thistle House Guest House exceeded our expectations! This is a true gem and a delightful stay. Sue and Avril were so kind and attentive. Well… if there are 5 star hotels (and I have really been to many of them) then this place should have at least 7!!! Nah… 8, yes 8 stars minimum! It’s a category of its own. Sue is doing more then words can describe in order to make you feel at home. My children started complaining right after we entered our room when I told them that we would just stay there for one day and leave the next day for the Isle of Skye. They wanted to stay there like forever. My wife too… Room, view to the sea, front garden, furniture, decor, common living room, breakfast, cleanliness, politeness, service… PERFECT. Well… perfect is again too poor to describe our experience there. If this place has a free room and it’s on your way (or close to it), book it without the slightest doubt. It’s just a 20 minutes drive to Inveraray to see the castle. Sue thank you, you are an example and a wonderful person!

We semi knew the area but this beautiful villa set in some fantastic surroundings with fabulous views proved to be the perfect base for our exploration of the Cowal Peninsula and surrounding Argyll area.Greeted by owner Sue, we were shown to our lovely comfortable and well appointed bedroom overlooking Loch Fyne. Breakfast was of a good quality and set you up for the day ahead. Special mention goes to Sue for her expertly cooked poached eggs.Overall we had four fantastic days here and I would say this is the best guest house I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. The house is situated in a beautiful setting and my room at the front overlooked Loch Fyne. Was made to feel very welcome and enjoyed coffee and cake in the lounge on arrival. My room was beautifully decorated, the bed extremely comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. A beautiful house in a perfect location for visiting many of the local attractions and Glasgow airport is just over an hour away by car. The first time that we've stayed here under the new ownership and we weren't disappointed. Equally as good as the previous owners. My wife's favourite place to stay.Hope everything goes ok for the new owners and hope to see them in the future.

Sue and Avril were fab. Delicious breakfast, lovely clean room with fabulous loch view. Only downside is the shower pressure, and check out time just a wee bit too early, 1100 seems to be the standard. Would recommend a visit any time of year, as it's a lovely part of the world.

This gem of a guesthouse is in a very quiet area with lovely views over the lake.Location: Its 20 mins away from Inverary and 30 from Dunoon - but there are lovely pubs and restaurants within 15min radius for hearty food and drinks. Facilities: The guest house itself was a 5-star experience! Not a huge room but has super comfy bed, window with tea table and two chairs looking over the views outside, small make-up table and a wardrobe to put your things away. The ensuite restroom seems to be recently refurbished and was spanking brand new :) The front room on the ground floor is an absolute beauty and I would come back in winter just to sit by the fireplace.My favourite part of the stay was the breakfast. Even the breakfast room was a delight. The food was amazing and I had my first haggis experience. The jam and marmalade was so good and I was so glad I could actually buy some jars! All in all 20 out of 10. Loved it.

Before I stayed here I read several reviews that said the owners Sue and Avril couldn't have done more for their guests. I cannot emphasis enough just how true this is. They are the most accommodating and welcoming hosts I've ever met. The room we stayed in, Campbell room, had the most beautiful view onto the Loch. It was big and bright and the bed is so comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and caters for everyone's needs. I couldn't finish it this morning so what was left was wrapped for me for my onward journey. We spent a day in Inveraray and had dinner at the Creggans Inn. Which was a lovely meal. I cannot praise this beautiful guesthouse and the hosts highly enough. They really do go above and beyond to make your stay a wonderful experience. Thank you Sue and Avril

Wonderful place to spend a few nights.Sue and Avril managed to convey a real friendly, homely atmosphere, yet remain professional. We loved our stay at Thistle House Guest House. I literally couldn't find any faults with the accommodation or the service. Avril and Sue went out of their way to make sure we had everything we wanted and needed. We were even able to plug in our electric car and charge overnight which wasvery convenient. Our sea-view ensuite room was lovely, and you can tell that there's been great attention to detail with all the small things. The king bed was very comfy (I'm usually really fussy about the beds!). Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. All in all we had a great 2 night stay and would recommend the guest house without hesitation to anyone visiting the area.

We had a beautiful two days in this lovely property . The owners were fabulously hospitable . Tea and cake when we arrived and a pleasant introduction to everything . The room and property were spotlessly clean and COVID equipped. Reservations were made at local restaurants and suggestions for sightseeing . We booked this as a last minute booking whilst in Inverary. This has to be one of the nicest bed and breakfasts we have ever stayed in.Both Sue and Avril could not do enough for us.I was offered a coffee in the beautiful lounge for residents and to my surprise there was a selection of fresh cake and shortbread as well.Our room was which was quite luxurious, and overlooked Loch Fyne and across to Inverary.For breakfast you could order as much or as little as you wanted.We could not recommend The Thistle House more and would definitely stay here again if in the area.

We enjoyed a warm welcome to a perfect stay. Tea and cake on the terrace looking across the Loch in the sunshine set the quality of our visit. Really lovely hosts! We felt so welcomed on our arrival. We had a nice cup of tea with great cakes in the fantastic lounge. Just perfect after a long road. The bedroom was spotless and beautifully decorated with amazing views. The breakfast was delicious (haggis is so good! And I got extra waffles with maple syrup ????). Cherry on the cake: Avril and Sue managed to get us a last minute booking at a lovely restaurant nearby. Which was not an easy task!We had such a great stay! I would highly recommend!

“The second best view of Loch Fyne”........according to our hosts, Avril and Sue, when we arrived. If true, then it is the only thing second best in this delightful guest house. I recently stayed at the Thistle House Guest House with my wife and teenage daughter.Our stay didn't disapoint, our 2 rooms had uninterrupted views over Loch Fyne with Inverary in the distance. The hospitality offered by Sue and Avril matched the quality / decor of the rooms with a breakfast to match.The gardens are well maintained with views over the Loch, perfect spot to watch a sunset with a glass of wine.I have no hesitation in giving our stay 5 out of 5 and would highly recommend anyone wishing to stay in the Loch Fyne area to consider the Thistle House Guest House.We very much look forward to visiting again.

Sometimes you find a place so beautiful and well run that you don't want to spoil it by letting other people know about it! This is Thistle House.In an idyllic setting on the banks of Loch Fyne, directly opposite Inverary. The house itself is a masterpiece and so well restored. Fantastic and loving attention to detail everywhere from the magnificent gardens, to the historic guest lounge with the way too comfortable settees, and finally the individually styled bedrooms. We had a double room on the top floor (loch view) with large ensuite shower room.In terms of service, despite Covid restrictions we were extremely well looked after by Avril and Sue, always there to safely help and advise in any way. From the pot of tea and biscuits in the lounge on arrival, to the tourist advice and fully loaded Scottish Breakfasts with extras! I don't want to tell you how good all of this was, but there you have it. 5 stars!... Oh and remember to bring the Smidge! (midge repellant)

We had a great time staying at Thistle House. Located on the bank of Loch Fyne, the House has a fantastic view over the loch and the mountains behind. The hosts were very friendly and were trying to do everything to meet our requests. The breakfast was excellent too! I’d highly recommend this place if you come to this side of Scotland.

There are only positives from our stay at the Thistle House. On arrival you are made to feel most welcome and no request seems to be too much trouble. The rooms (including a stunning communal area) are spacious, tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, and most comfortable. The breakfast on offer is amongst the best we have had after any overnight stay. From the garden, there are stunning views over Loch Fyne to Inveraray. Lovely welcome with tea and cake on arrival sat outside in the sunshine overlooking the loch. First impression was WOW and it lived up to this throughout our whole stay. The ladies who run this are attentative and nothing is too much trouble for them. Breakfast is to die for, the haggis and black pudding alone are worth imbibing. Wish we could have stayed here longer. From arriving and warmly shown to our room with a great view of Loch Fyne we were treated to home made shortbread & lemon drizzle cake with tea and coffee in the garden overlooking the loch. We were very lucky with the weather being able to sit outside but we could equally have had it in the very smart and comfortable lounge which we enjoyed later in the evening.The beds were extremely comfortable and the pillows were so good I took off the covers to find the make so I can order some when I get home.A full breakfast menu and everything tasted fresh and delicious.You got the feeling nothing would be too much trouble for them but they seem to have thought of everything you could possibly ask for already.We will hopefully be back, but for longer next time.

We were anticipating a lovely stay from previous reviews and were not disappointed. The 9.8 score is fully deserved. A friendly welcome from Sue and Avril into their exquisite house made us feel honoured guests. Lovely bedroom with seaview (though the garden view rooms have a lovely vista for another time). All the decor and furnishing feels brand new, tasteful and top quality. Breakfast was generous and every choice offered. What more to say? Quite the best b&b we've stayed in (and we ourselves rent 2 chic holiday cottages).

What a fabulous guest house! From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed, dinner booked for us at the local restaurant (restaurants were closed from 6pm due to Covid restrictions) and helped with our bags into our excellent rooms. Comfortable stayLovely breakfast

While travelling through Western Scotland we stayed one night in Thistle House. Alastair met us on arrival and gave us a brief safety induction before showing us to our room. The room complete with ensuite was very tastefully decorated (as was the whole house) and comfortable. A beautiful breakfast was served in the dining room which was set up to accommodate 4 tables with social distancing measures in place. Without hesitation I would recommend the Thistle House and if we are in the area again needing accommodation I will certainly contact them.

Honestly one of the most welcoming places we have ever stayed in. Jenny the owner takes a genuine interest in where you are from and what you are up to, in addition to of course your well being. Nothing is too much for her to make your stay comfortable.The views are incredible across the Loch from the house and the house itself is immaculate. It is cleaned everyday and especially in these Covid times I felt incredibly safe - all precautions are followed.The ensuite was fantastic, with good shower pressure and hot water. The beds were comfy and it is in a brilliant location for exploring the area. Highly recommended and if I go back to Scotland would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed a lovely weekend at Thistle House in August 2020. The Thistle House Guest House was spotless and beautifully decorated, the breakfast was excellent and our hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The location is stunning. Due to the reduced number of tables( in line with Covid 19 restrictions) in the few hotels on this side of Loch Fyne it was difficult to get a dinner reservation at the weekend so we would recommend early booking.Our son and daughter-in-law joined us for the weekend and they were equally impressed.

This is an excellent guest house, maybe the best I have ever been to in the UK. Very tastefully appointed in a wonderful location, superior breakfast and very helpful and charming hosts. Just go there.

A beautiful early 20th century family house looking over Loch Fyne towards Inveraray. The property is beautifully maintained and spotlessly clean. The hosts are helpful and friendly and the breakfast is absolutely perfect.

Thistle House is a fabulous guest house with wonderful views of Loch Fyne and welcoming hosts. My room was comfortable, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The breakfast is the best I think that I’ve ever had in a guest house, with all local produce. Overall it is an absolute credit to the lovely owners.

We had an extremely comfortable and enjoyable stay.Our room overlooked Loch Fyne with stunning views.It was exceptionally clean with good quality facilities and equipment. Breakfast was delicious. Would recommend and stay again.

Having stayed at The Thistle on several occasions I knew how high the standards were and am pleased to say on this visit I was not disappointed. Covid 19 measures were well executed and everything felt safe and clean.The room was very comfortable with stunning views over Loch Fyne and breakfast was delicious and generously portioned.All in all a great place to stay.

Lovely place to stay, great views of the sea. Everywhere was super clean and tidy, big choice for breakfast. We felt so safe there we stayed an extra night.

We had the most wonderful stay at Thistle House. Jenifer was very welcoming and willing to please at all times. The view was simply stunning and I felt very sad when we had to leave.If I did haveone suggestion to make, it would be to have summer duvets,as the 13.5 tog duvets, even in Scotland, were just a bit on the hot side at this time of year.Apart from that though, it was the perfect holiday retreat.Many thanks for a wonderful stay and delicious breakfasts.

Everything in the guesthouse is first class, the breakfast, décor, gardens, views, and hosting from Jennifer and Alistair could not be more welcoming.we stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed it enormously.

I cannot recommend Thistle House enough. The room was spotlessly clean, the bed was incredibly soft and the view was, as you’d imagine, breathtaking. However, what really sets Thistle House apart is the hosts. Alistair and Jenifer went above and beyond, greeting us warmly and making sure we got dinner reservations for our last minute trip, making us a scrumptious breakfast and after asking what we wanted to do with our time up there - informing us of a beautiful local walking route and gardens. I’m so glad we stayed there! Cannot recommend highly enough.

We had a wonderful stay at Alistair and Jennifer's Guest House. It was a great location for exploring thelocal area. The hosts are so helpful, the place is well presented and the breakfasts are delicious! We will definitely be back!

High quality in every aspect

We were travelling up the west coastheading for Skye. Today we visited Loch Lomond andwanted to see Loch Fyne and Inveraray.Thistle House is absolutely stunning. Alister and Jennifer from the moment we arrived made us feel welcome and special. The room was immaculate andvery very well presented. . Breakfast was amazingand set us up well for the day ahead. We will 100 percent be returning and would recommend without any hesitation.

Don't know what else to say except 'Can't fault anything'.Lovely and clean and friendly hosts. No complaints.(We did have a snorer next door but nothing anyone can do about that !!!).

Just had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Thistle House. Alistair and Jennifer are extremely welcoming, friendly owners, with all the local knowledge that one could need. The room we stayed in was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed, including a very new, up to date bathroom and shower. Best of all our room was at the front of the house and so it looked out on to a stunning view of Loch Fyne. We were also provided with lots of local information both from printed booklets that the owners had prepared and from the owners themselves who bent over backwards to help us with anything that arose. Breakfast was also excellent - a fantastic choice of cereals, fresh croissants, and cooked breakfast - all using fresh local produce and served in a lovely clean modern breakfast room. The Thistle is also excellently situated with incredible nature and sightseeing spots nearby and also excellent restaurants. If you have a car then it's just a 15-30 minute drive over to the busier Inverairy on the other side of the Loch. All in all we had a wonderful time at the Thistle House and would highly recommend it as a guest house that offers all the 'homely' character of a guest house but without any of the 'fustiness' that you sometimes find - it's all very fresh, clean and modern - somewhere that's really nice to be in.

It was wise to come back. Rooms are refurbished, bathrooms modernized. The breakfast is superb as always. And it is good to talk to the hosts!

Great hosts A and J made us feel so welcome in a beautiful house for three nights on the very interesting Loch Fyne.

We only stayed one night but it certainly left it’s mark. A stunning guest house with warm and friendly hosts. A magical view from the grounds and our room accross the loch. Breakfast was cooked to order with homemade jams and yoghurts. The room was large, clean and comfy and bathroom excellent.

Without a shadow of a doubt, this was the best B&B I have stayed in and all 6 of us agreed. The room was big and very clean. Hosts were very kind and helpful, they explqined how to arrive to diferent places and where to have dinner when we arrived. Location is great for visiting Loch Lemond and views from the House are very nice. I recomend this accommofstion 100%.

Such a lovely guest house! Stayed here as a family, in 3 different rooms which were all great, especially the room with the lake view. The place is peaceful, warm and gives you a homey feeling (loved the lounge!). The views are stunning, breakfast was generous and delicious and Jeniffer, the owner, is very kind and friendly. Everything at Thistle House was beautiful, starting with the view on the Loch, comfy bed, locally sourced breakfast (the Black pudding is really really great!) and the hosts so kind and helpful. We stayed shortly, but we hope to come back soon.

From the gorgeous setting and views to the friendly welcome it was just a perfect stay. The place is immaculate and Jennifer couldn't have been any friendlier or more helpful. It was dead quiet which guaranteed a perfect night sleep in a very comfy bed. We will be back!

We stayed for 2 nights. We were greeted by Alistair and Jenifer (hosts) who provide such a welcoming atmosphere. The amazing friendliness continued throughout our stay. The room that we had over looked the Loch and was far beyond 5 star, our room had a luxurious bathroom and the bed was so very comfortable. The breakfast options were all delicious with the food provided is sourced locally. I would recommend this guest house highly. Another service available nearby is the local Taxi driven by a lovely gentleman (John Wright). We required Johns services and not only did he provide a safe ride, his knowledge of the area and history was just amazing to listen to

We’ve returned to Thistle House three times after our first visit. Jenifer and Alastair are warm and expert hosts, eager to meet every need. The breakfasts are delicious and the views over Loch Fyne are breathtaking. After 20 visits to Scotland we’ve found no better place to stay.

Beautiful house in a fantastic location overlooking loch fyne with Inverary castle taking centre stage across the loch.Rooms are nicely decorated, clean and quiet.Guests have access to a large lounge area, making the stay much more comfortable and relaxing.Could not have asked for anything more.

Thoroughly enjoyed our short visit. We recieved a lovely a warm welcome that was evident our whole visit. Lovely comfortable accomodation and public rooms, the views are stunning, the hotel immaculate. With an epicurean choice of breakfast we were forced to avoid a cooked option and were still thoroughly spoilt for choice i would thoroughly recommend the Thistle hotel.

This is a beautiful guest house right on the shore of the Loch, just opposite of Inveraray Castle.The accommodation are very nice and comfortable and some of them overlook the Loch.Alistair and Jenifer make you fell at home right away and the cooked breakfast is very good

Simply the best Guest House in Argyll.

We enjoyed a lovely evening at the Thistle House in the Campbell Room.The home is situated on beautiful Loch Fyne and is run by the delightful Jenifer and Alistair. The home is kept in immaculate condition and our room was spacious with a wonderful en suite bath and a beautiful view over the lake. In the morning, Alistair prepared a delicious breakfast while Jenifer attended the dining room efficiently. This is a lovely stop for traveling in this area of Scotland and we highly recommend it!!

Beautifully decorated by charming owners Jenifer and Alistair, with wonderful loch view of Inverary and a short drive from the town and other attractions, it’s comfortable and enjoyable.Great breakfasts too!

Thistle House is indeed a beautiful house but what makes it special are Alistair and Jenifer, and their attention to detail. They are very welcoming hosts and the service cannot be faulted. They richly deserve the many awards they have been given for their breakfasts. The choice and service were both excellent. Jenifer was very helpful in giving information about the local beauty spots and restaurants (of which there are many), and it's the only place we've stayed at where we had help with our luggage on arrival and departure. We intend to return.

Jennifer made us very welcome, including an early breakfast, so thank you.Certainly will recommend to anyone travelling to the area. Booking.com list as 2.5 miles from Inverary (if you swim/row across the lake!!), actually about 20-25 mins drive.
